This page answers the questions that come up before and during a Mycelarium run. Each answer is short and points to the guide with the full explanation. The game is new, so anything uncertain is labelled as unverified rather than presented as fact.

Mycelarium is an incremental exploration game from PLAN KAPKAN, released on 3 November 2026 for PC at $3.99. You grow a mycelium network from a single mushroom, collect food and water, build production mushrooms and push into a procedural underground. There is no hard fail state.

How long is Mycelarium?

A focused run can finish in about twenty minutes; a relaxed run takes around three hours. The difference is how much you explore and how many mushrooms you maintain. Completionists can spend considerably longer on the million-centimetre achievement.

Why can't I add new nodes?

The food counter is empty. Food pays for nodes and mushrooms, while water pays for growth. Grow toward leaf litter or build an Absorber to restore the food supply. The food guide→ has the full recovery order.

Why is my water gone so fast?

Long shots and low Water Efficiency. Each shot spends water in proportion to its length and the ground it crosses. Buy efficiency early and use rain windows for long connections. The water guide→ explains the pool economy.

How do I get more upgrade points?

Two ways: grow length and complete Evolution Tasks. Tasks pay lump sums such as +2 points, and length feeds the counter continuously. The progression guide→ lists the tasks visible in a developed save.

Where are the magic shrooms?

Water and Cosmos on the first layer (Brown Dirt), Flora and Fauna on the second (Grey Dirt), Light on the third (Red Dirt). Flora is the most valuable: it reduces all mushroom food prices by 25%, confirmed by the in-game tooltip. The magic shrooms guide→ has the table.

How do I scare animals?

Build a Repeller Mushroom for active scaring and a Stinky Mushroom for passive area denial. Upgrade Repeller Auto Regen so the defence keeps firing. The animals guide→ has the two-tree layout players use.

How do I reach the ending?

Follow the THE GREAT MIGRATION objective in Exploration Mode. The finale is narrative, tied to the colony's migration and the Spore Mushroom. The exact trigger is not documented and is marked for testing in the ending guide→.

Does Survival Mode have an ending?

No. Survival removes the final goal and the Evolution Tasks, and applies a stricter balance. Pick Exploration for the story. The game modes guide→ compares them.

Is there a fail state?

No. A starved colony stalls, but the save and the map persist. You can recover by slowing down and rebuilding food income.

How many achievements are there?

Nineteen, added in update 1.02. They cover growth, mushroom production, animal scares, secrets and the ending. The achievements guide→ lists all of them.

Does the game have codes?

No codes are confirmed. The game is a single-player purchase with no redeem-code system in the store description. This site does not publish a codes page because there is nothing to redeem.

What are the system requirements?

Windows 7 64-bit, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz, 2 GB RAM, GTX 650 Ti or HD 7790, 700 MB. The store lists no recommended tier. The system requirements page→ has the full table.

Is there a demo?

Yes. Demo 2.0 added a save system, the Repeller Mushroom and balance changes. It does not include the 1.02 achievements or the mode split.

Can I play with a controller?

No controller support is listed. The game uses mouse aiming, clicking and camera drags.

Does the game have mods?

No mod support is listed on the store page. The Steam Workshop is not mentioned.

What is the best first upgrade?

Shot Range, then Water Efficiency, then the Absorber. The first two improve every shot; the Absorber ends the early food famine. The upgrade priority guide→ has the full order.

The three numbers to watch

Food (mushroom icon), water (droplet) and points (diamond). If food is empty, stop building. If water is empty, stop growing. If points are unspent, buy a utility upgrade.

FAQ

Is Mycelarium still being updated?

Yes. The launch build received a quick fix on 3 November and update 1.02 on 5 November 2026. Check the updates page→ for the current patch.

Is the game worth it at $3.99?

If you like incremental exploration and calm base-building, yes. It is short, but the systems are deeper than the price suggests.

Can I finish the achievements after the ending?

Yes. The save continues and the map stays open.

Does the game autosave?

The demo added a save system in 2.0, and the full game retains progress. The exact autosave interval is not documented.
